Samuel A. Livshin, Chairman of The Dagar Group Ltd., passed away on June 6, 2003 at age eighty five. Sam retired from active involvement in Dagar as of December, 2000. He began his career in the retail industry in the mid 1950’s and had a vast knowledge of management and finance. From 1963 through 1985 he owned and operated a successful chain of stores before joining Dagar in 1990, a company founded by his son, David, in 1988.
While at Dagar his responsibilities included overseeing all financial aspects of Dagar managed properties. Sam was born in Syracuse, New York on December 11, 1917 and attended Syracuse University and was a great fan of the Syracuse “Orangeman.” He was a decorated Master Sergeant in World War II serving in the South Pacific with the United States Army. He was the founding President of the Poughkeepsie South Rotary Club. His business associates, friends and family miss his valuable experience and guidance.
